Background on CultureSpan
Business for Diplomatic Action is committed to finding business solutions for public diplomacy efforts. To that end, BDA released a World Citizens Guide for Executives last spring; a pamphlet including 16 tips for global executives. The response from companies was overwhelmingly positive as over 15,000 copies distributed within weeks of the Guide¿s first print-run. In addition, BDA heard from numerous executives and companies asking for an intensive course that would build off of and pair with the Guide.
BDA¿s focus has always been to keep things simple, to provide tangible tools that would help global executives understand and develop cross-cultural communications ¿ in effect to help executives; especially American executives build bridges to the world. In developing the content behind CultureSpan BDA partnered with Thunderbird, consistently ranked the #1 school globally for their Global MBA program as well as their pioneering work like the GLOBE research program in 60 countries.
The purpose of the CultureSpan, a one-day intensive workshop on Global Corporate Diplomacy, is to provide a framework for understanding and working across cultures, building and managing global teams, as well as cultivating tools that lead to a global mindset among participants. CultureSpan is based on the GLOBE research program covering 60 countries around the world and is the first workshop of its kind. Executives of every level, including veteran global business managers, will derive an entirely new way of understanding and working with the world after participating in the Culture Span workshop.
