Thomas A. W. Miller, Vice President and Founding Board Member of Business for Diplomatic Action will present a lecture, ¿American¿s Reputation in the World: A Look into Pandora¿s Box,¿ on Thursday, March 15 at 4:30 p.m. in Bowl 002, Robertson Hall on the Princeton University campus. The lecture is co-sponsored by the Woodrow Wilson School and it is free and open to the public. It is the first lecture in the LISD Lecture Series on Public Diplomacy, directed by Christoph Meran, LISD Visiting Fellow and Counselor for Press and Public Affairs at the Austrian Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

Thomas A. W. Miller is a noted market researcher, marketing strategist, and public opinion pollster who has worked with Fortune 500 clients on major global assignments for thirty years. From 2005 to 2006, Miller was Regional Senior Vice President and Managing Director with Ipsos Public Affairs in the United States. He was responsible for directing global and domestic public affairs research assignments for public, private and not-for-profit sector clients based in the United States. He also oversaw the Associated Press/Ipsos poll.
From 1985 to 2004, Miller was a senior executive with the Roper Organization, Roper Starch Worldwide, RoperASW, and RoperNOP (all the same company) in New York City. He was the Managing Director of the company since 2001, a member of the Board since 2000, a member of the company's Executive Committee since 1992, and the chair of its Strategic Planning Committee since 1989. He had P&L responsibility for four major divisions of the company. As Director of the Trends and Brands division, he oversaw all syndicated services conducted by Roper both in the United States and globally, including all of the company¿s consumer insight services: Roper Reports, Roper Reports Worldwide, Roper Youth Report, Green Gauge, and others. Under his leadership, the Roper Reports and Roper Reports Worldwide services grew to become the market leaders for consumer intelligence and forecasting in the world. He also oversaw Roper's brand strategy, international research, and marketing consulting practices, and the teams devoted these businesses in the company's New York, London, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Dallas offices.
Prior to joining Roper, Miller was the Managing Director of Hudson Research Europe, a futures think-tank based in Paris, France. With Hudson for six years, Miller oversaw the company's consulting practice, directed its conference programs, and was editor of its bi-monthly newsletter of international forecast, The Hudson Letter. He also supervised the GLOBE Project, a comprehensive social, economic and political risk forecasting service for forty countries, conducted in collaboration with Chase Econometrics of the United States.
His articles and opinions have appeared widely in the global media, including the New York Times, International Herald Tribune, London Times, Advertising Age, Brandweek, Marketing News, Public Opinion, Agence Economique et Financiere, Asahi Evening News, Asia Media Week. He has appeared on numerous television and radio programs, including Good Morning America, Adam Smith¿s Money World, Louis Rukheyser¿s Wall Street Week, NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, CNBC, MSNBC. He is a top-rated public speaker and has given hundreds of speeches before business and government audiences in the Americas, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Australia.
Tom received his B.A. magna cum laude with distinction in the major from Yale University, and his M.Sc. from the London School of Economics.
