US government and business leaders to present at NBTA`s Convention & Exposition event
The National Business Travel Association¿s (NBTA) 2006 International Convention & Exposition announced numerous industry and government leaders as presenters for more than 50 education sessions offered at the annual event, including federal government officials presenting the latest developments in security and travel facilitation programs. These speakers will address more than 5,000 travel buyers and suppliers on a variety of topics including global travel management, executive development, industry trends, business strategies and negotiations, and strategic meetings management.
The education sessions offered at the NBTA Convention are:

Business travel, both domestic and global, is profoundly impacted by legislation and regulations put forth by the U.S. government. In the next two years, issues such as new identification and documentation requirements, border-crossing requirements and more robust passenger screening policies will take center stage on Capitol Hill. This session, presented by the NBTA Legislative Advisory Committee, is aimed at educating travel buyers and suppliers on how these issues will impact domestic and global travel. NBTA is pleased to welcome Frank Moss, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Passport Services, and a senior official from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as presenters for this session.
Private Sector Public Diplomacy: Combating Rising Global Anti-American Sentiment
NBTA has partnered with Business for Diplomatic Action (BDA), a non-profit group that works with U.S. companies to improve the global reputation of the nation, to produce the World Citizen¿s Guide, a pamphlet designed to educate business travelers on how to improve the image of the United States abroad. In this session, BDA Executive Director Cari Guittard will inform attendees on the latest available research, insights and implications of rising anti-American sentiment for U.S.-based companies, as well as offer guidance on how companies can educate their travelers to the ways to combat this growing trend.
The Varied Aspects of Safe Travel
Dr. Peter Tarlow, a well-known and respected expert on global tourism security, joins NBTA again in 2006 to educate attendees on travel safety and global events impacting traveler security. Attendees of this session will gain valuable knowledge of global threats and the ways in which they can protect their companies¿ travelers from these threats.
General session speeches will also be presented by George H.W. Bush, forty-first President of the United States, Carly Fiorina, former President and CEO of Hewlett Packard, and Bernard Shaw, former CNN anchor and seasons journalist. In addition to more than 50 education sessions offered during the event, attendees also have the opportunity to participate in pre-convention sessions for NBTA¿s industry-leading professional development courses ¿ the Fundamentals of Business Travel Management/Corporate Travel Executive (CTE), the Certified Corporate Travel Executive (CCTE) program and the Global Leadership Program (GLP).
